The Culinary Arts Center provides an opportunity for the casual chef or hobbyist gourmet to practice in the stimulating surroundings of an actual professional teaching kitchen at 1063 N. George St. in York. Most classes involve hands-on preparation under the direction of a skilled chef and participants have the opportunity to taste dishes that are prepared. In anticipation of this festive day of celebration, prepare and sample some of the regional cooking of Mexico. Distinctive and robust, Mexican food has become an American staple. My Island Grill
When Europeans arrived in the new world, Caribbean islanders were already cooking their “barbacòa.” Explore the Island tradition on the outdoor patio at the Culinary Arts Center (weather permitting.) We’ll be grilling meat, fish and fowl using items from the Caribbean pantry such as jerk seasoning and West Indian sauces and salsas.

Are some of your dishes long on taste but short on looks? Learn some of the fundamental rules for plating and presenting various styles of cuisine in different settings. From simple hints for arranging food to garnishing techniques, learn how to wow your guests with the appearance of your dishes. This class is demonstration only.
